title: A grandpa I never had
date: Friday, April 22, 2011 @ 12:48 AM
I haven't blogged about my grandparents much. (Except that one time when we got unifi), so here's a pimp post *yay
Name: Hj. Hassan bin Hj. Ali
D.O.B: 21st April 19__
Okay, before anyone judges me for not knowing my grandfather's age, let me give my defense, he looks the exact same since I first saw him at the airport about 13 years ago, giving me a piece of hacks, til just a couple of weeks ago he came to Shah Alam. Same glasses, same grey hair, same crooked smile and...yeah, same smoking habits. He doesn't look old at all, since he doesn't uses a cane to walk, and he doesn't have hearing problems, and he doesn't talk slowly either. His age never mattered to me, he looks healthy as a bull, well a quite old bull, but seriously he seems very strong and healthy, knowing his age would just make me fear of losing him.
Atok's on my mom's side, and he's the only grandfather I have. I never actually got to know my grandfather from my dad's side, we call him Tok Ayah. He died when I was 6 or 7, at that time of age. And we never slept at Pasir Mas because of the space (it would be inconveniant for the other people living in the house) .We always slept at Wakaf Bharu, so I see Atok more that Tok Ayah.
Qeelah was the only one who attended his funeral, and tbh I do want to visit his grave at least once. I don't know why Abah never lets us follow him during raya, but I do hope he brings us with, one day. It's ironic how I've visited my great grandfather's grave once, with Una and Atok, but not my other grandfather. Even though he was a small part of my life, that doesn't change the fact that the blood running through my veins are related to his.
Moving back to Atok cool.
5 interesting facts.
1. He's really smart (really)
2. He likes to fix things
3. My loves watching Bollywood movies.
4. He looooooves football.
5. He's like a total replica of my mom.
Atok has a temper, just like any other human being, and he can be a bit harsh some times (I've never got scolded by him, but I've seen him in full rage) but when he's in a relaxed mood, he's just this cool guy that's fun to talk to. When I was in Form 2, I took a break from living in hostel, and stayed with my grands for the whole second half of the year. I go to school by bus (tambang) and go home the same way. Qeelah comes home like every two weeks or month, and stays for 2 or 3 days then go back, but I practically lived there for the whole semester, so sometimes I do know things that other people might not expect.
My mom looks up to Atok, sometimes I think just as much as I look up to my own dad. My mom's so similar to Atok, just as much as I'm similar to Abah. There are even times when I notice that their methods of sarcasm is the same. But at the end of the day, no matter how different or similar we are....we're family.
I gave this to Atok the other day.
It's a cigarette alternative hand gel, you scrub it on you hand whenever you feel like puffing some smoke, and it's purpose is supposedly be handling addiction, and I don't know if Atok even tried this, but that's a sincere gift from me. Atok asked me to buy the fake buns at the mall. You know those keychain buns that even smells like real buns, but actually aren't? Yeah well, Atok ordered me to buy some for him. He wants to prank his grandchildren. Lol.
On the phone call with him just now he said to me this,
Ifah bilo nok mari sini? Duk jauh gini, Atok buleh doa jelah, smaye hajat mitok cucu semuo sihat, selamat, berjaya dunio akhirat. Gini jelah kito usoho, takdok depe mato takpo, kito ikhtiar
Awww, Atok being all sweet and stuff =') Happy Birthday! Labels: cincang darah pon boleh
